Heartland Developers Conference 2006 Announced!!!!

This conference is definitely worth attending!! Not only can you see John and I podcasting again like last year, but they always have great speakers and excellent rates. This year Alexander & Julian Inc. is a Silver Sponsor and we hope to work with other KC firms to get a bus going to Omaha this year to save everyone some gas money. Provider Model Presentation Materials

Last night I presented "The Provider Model" at the .NET User Group of Kansas City and it seemed to go over pretty well. Presenting a topic like the Provider Model is difficult in a user group scenerio because everyone comes from different backgrounds and for some, it might be their first presentation focused on architecture. Great Resource - Provider Toolkit

After my post announcing my Provider Model presentation in Kansas City, ScottGu commented about the ASP.NET Developer Center's Provider Toolkit available on MSDN. This is an excellent resource to get more information about Providers and examples for ASP.NET. If you are dabbling in ASP.NET 2.0, this is definitely a page to bookmark.

Kansas City .NET User Group - April 2006 - The Provider Model and You

On April 25th, I will be presenting "The Provider Model and You" at the Kansas City .NET User Group. This has been one of my favorite topics to discuss since Microsoft annouced they would have built-in provider logic in .NET 2.0. This presentation will cover the use of Providers in ASP.NET 2.0, show examples of how to extend the ASP.NET providers, and how to build your own providers by leveraging the new provider and configuration classes. If your in the area, I hope you can make it!

TechEd Bloggers for 2006 is really moving

Now that the site has been live for a month now, we are really starting to see some compelling posts about topics that will be covered at TechEd. One thing to keep in mind, this site is not just for attendees, it is for anyone interested in what Microsoft will be announcing and talking about during the event. The hot topics include Office 2007, SharePoint, .NET 2.0, Atlas, Exchange Server, etc. If you haven't checked out the site, I highly suggest you do and start aggregating the feed to get the latest buzz from the TechEd blogging community.

On a related note, TechNet Events Bloggers and MSDN Events Bloggers are becoming very exciting communities. These sites cover events & webcasts and also what is hot in the Microsoft technology realm. If you like attending webcasts or getting the on-demands, this is a great place to find out more about the speakers, find links to their demos, and see what else is going on in the space. With these three sites, you should be on top of what Microsoft is doing at any given moment.

FrontPage is dead at the end of 2006

It looks like Microsoft will discontinue FrontPage at the end of the year with the release of other tools for SharePoint 2007 development/maintenance. It has been a pain to need this tool installed to edit SharePoint so I am glad to hear this news.

Newsgroup for Kansas City .NET User Group Members

We are going to try something new with the .NET User Group in Kansas City. We want to see how the local community will be assisted with a local-only newsgroup for members. With this, I have started a newsgroup @ Google Groups for the User Group. If you are local to Kansas City, come join and help us test this theory out.
